Seek peace and pursue it.
I Peter 3:11

Though the world that we live is without peace and lacks enough love, God wants us to be in peace with everyone. You may think why? It is because he is the “Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6)

(For Tamil Version – தமிழ் பதிப்பிற்கு)

Loss of peace due to others

If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. – Romans 12:18

Are you lacking peace in your work environment? Or do you think that I don’t have peace at home? If we think about it, we may have so many reasons.

The one who knows us and the one who is close to us might have done something that is not loved by us; though we do good deeds, people return to us evil things without understanding us. At such times remember, the world did the same to Jesus Christ who came to save and redeem us.

Jesus while living in this world in the form of human being, did no evil but only good things. He healed the sick, sight to the blind, freedom from the victims of the devil and so on. But the people who received the good from Jesus charged him as rebellious and pushed him to cross. The one who was with him, who saw all the good deeds that Jesus did and the one who enjoyed the benefits betrayed him. In these circumstances, think, how Jesus would have hurt in his heart. He would have lost the peace completely, injuries all over the body, embarrassed, retarded. Be happy that you did not get into such troublesome situations.

Don’t lose peace in any situation

Are you deeply troubled on not getting any benefits, promotions, cash facilities which are available for those who are incapable of it? God has pre-decided something special for you. Wait patiently until you receive it.

Don’t compare yourselves with others. Always praise God for meeting day-to-day needs.

Let’s forgive those who deceived us. God wants us to love even our enemies, pray for those who persecute you (Matthew 5:44). Let’s never take revenge on others, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay”, says God – Romans 12:19.

Love your neighbor as would love yourself (Matthew 22:39). Learn to compromise with others. Make every effort to live in peace with everyone (Hebrews 12:14). Then, God of peace shall provide us the peace.

Loss of peace due to our character

As we lose peace due to others, we also lose peace due to our character. The most important of all is expectation. When we expect something and when it does not happen, we disappoint. We keep thinking on it and our mind gets desolated. We ourselves build an unpeaceful situation.

When we depend on God and something that we expect does not happen, it might be unpleasant for God, or God might have blocked it as it may not be necessary at that time, or it might be pleasing to us, but might be an unwanted one for our life or might be trap for us.

Let us not keep more expectation on anything. When something that appears good in our sight, let’s take that to God’s presence and leave that to his will and not think more about it. Though it fulfills or doesn’t, not worrying would be more suitable for us.

In addition, as we lose peace when we expect on events that fail, we also lose peace when something happens unexpectedly that appears unpleasing to us. As we thank God for something that happens unexpectedly which appear pleasing to us, we should also thank Him for unexpected events that appears unpleasing to us. God allows only that is good for us, he blocks everything that is evil.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:6-7

When the Lord takes pleasure in anyone’s way, he causes their enemies to make peace with them. – Proverbs 16:7

The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace. – Psalm 29:11

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. – John 14:27

Explore these verses, have peace and exhibit peace which our God expects us to as the third fruit of the spirit.
